Jeff @
www.policecarmodels.comWe would like to provide you some information regarding what we’re planning for First Response Replicas. By next week we’ll provide a list and images of possible planned releases. Experience has taught us that the more unique and colorful a car is the better it is received by collectors.
Of particular note is the International Series featuring mostly Dodge Chargers from a variety of countries planned for release later this year. We’d appreciate your thoughts of the appeal of such a series.
In response to numerous requests we’re producing a car to represent a H.E.A.T. enforcement unit prevalent among southern states. Since the previous release of the South Carolina Highway Patrol Charger was very popular and a quick sell out, we selected this agency to represent this version. As you can see from the artwork, other than the markings it is considerably different than the standard S.C.H.P. cruiser. Additionally we will produce a very limited run of North Carolina Highway Patrol Chargers in the previous reversed color scheme which used black as the primary color.
The Impala and Tahoe will hopefully be ready by the end of this year. Initially just to get going the first releases will probably be blanks followed by some Premiers. We’ll then proceed with open stock releases with production dependent on pre-orders.
For the Diplomat series, a variety of authentic police parts including realistic new wheels and tires are currently being developed to bring the model up to collector’s expectations. At this time it’s difficult to determine if these will be ready by the end of this year or early 2011.
We have a substantial selection of new versions utilizing an ever increasing variety of vehicles that would continue the First Response series. However, much of what we produce going forward will be predicated by pre-orders. Due to a lack of pre-orders we have postponed indefinitely two planned Magnums, FR-MAG-113 St. John Police and FR-MAG-114 Waterloo. There simply weren’t enough pre-orders to justify producing them.
Unfortunately, this is a trend becoming commonplace across the diecast industry all related to the current economy. Going forward we’re going to provide dealers with the artwork and/or photos of planned releases further in advance should you want to utilize these to promote future product and hopefully stimulate sales. To be clear, it is our intention to continue with First Response but with a more conservative production plan all based on the strength of pre-orders.
